GIORGI AGLADZE

I was born on May 15, 1985, in the capital of Georgia - Tbilisi. My mother was a physicist, and father was an IT specialist. It was the time of “Perestroika” in the post Soviet Union. So father was working in newly introduced private business entities for a few years and then he set up his own company. My mother was working for the cybernetic institution. I entered secondary school when I was six years old. This was the most popular school in my country as well as the oldest one (1801). School gave me a lot of knowledge in general education but not only. School taught to be polite, to be friendly and other relative traditional moral values. It challenged me to reach something valuable in my life, because a lot of famous people from my country were graduates of my school (people engaged/being successful in: politics, business, arts, etc.) They were like role models for me and my school-mates. Before I graduated my school, a lot of important things happened in my country: gained independence from Russian-Soviet Empire, civil war, economic and political crises.

I graduated my school in 2002 and entered University in same year. I wanted to study in another educational institution which was called “European School Of Management” but my family could not afford it that time (it was and is quite expensive). So I started my bachelor in “Georgian Technical University” faculty of IT and economics with the highest entrance exam scores. It was a quite good program as the curriculum was in English and was a copy of a similar program from the University of Manchester.

I started ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Glasgow UK)
Program In August, 2005. By now I have already passed 3 books and knowledge gained there really helped me to take a position in my last recent job.
In 2006 I graduated from university and started to think about future career more seriously. I took an IELTS test and scored 6.5 in July of 2006.

At the last year of my bachelor's I started working at a financial service company called “Audit Center”. It was an unpaid, part-time internship. There I realized how it was to work and at the same time received knowledge of basic practical accounting.

My second job was paid but was in a totally different field. I was working as an IT specialist In the “State Agency for Regulation of Oil and Gas Resources in Georgia”. For me IT was a kind of hobby that time, so I was having a lot fun working there and having lot of free time of course (common situation for public sector). The main thing I gained from there was the understanding of public sector organizations, in terms of: management, decision-making, finances, etc. There I understood that IT was not my field and I decided to try myself in finances.
FSGroup was a small audit and financial service company but was enjoying growth in terms of customers and income. I was given a position of assistant. I was selected because I had passed exam at ACCA and I succeeded in the job interview. After training I was involved in conducting all kinds of financial audit, (daily bookkeeping and accounting, monthly reports, annual statements, VAT and other tax issues) initially under supervision and then independently. I was involved in the decision-making process after a few months but, as it was a small company, it could not be regarded as major achievement. Before applying to Master program, I realized that for me this job was too routine and I realized that I wanted a managerial position with more decision-making power. I realized as well that besides my client enterprises I preferred to work with an international transportation company. FSGroup gave me: a lot of knowledge and skills, practice of team project and group works, real understanding of how business-making process was led on in Georgia. But still, the next step was to be made.
