VALUABLE EXPERIENCES:
Internships and volunteer placements can provide benefits far beyond any financial rewards. People who work on the ENYA placements are able to further develop and gain valuable management and finance skills, communication training, ecumenical leadership processes, conflict resolution methodologies and inter-cultural experiences that prepare them for a deeper commitment to ecumenism and peace and justice work. Volunteers are the very core of the Ecumenical Network for Youth Action’s creative work and effective mission and outreach. Many dedicated individuals are devoting their time and talents to helping the ecumenical movement to achieve it's mission every day. We invite you to join the team.........
AIMS and GOALS:
The ENYA VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMES (E-VIP) are a series of unique internship and volunteer positions initiated and launched in 1999 to mark the commemoration of all the volunteers who took part in the transformation processes which lead to the major changes in 1989. The main aim of the internships are twofold:
1) to continue these transformation processes (there is still many bridges to be built and a lot to be done!!);
2) and to increase the provision for placements that would encourage the growth of ecumenical leadership in our communities and the development of issued based partnerships with and between Churches, faith communities, their related organisations, women's networks, diaconial projects, ecumenical youth denominational networks, Christian Educators and Christian Education networks, children's right's and protection activists, social movements, justice, peace, reconciliation and environmental groups, not-for-profit associations, NGO's / INGO'S, lay academies and centres, and peace, justice and reconciliation groups. ENYA co-manages all internships, with the help of our ecumenical international and national denominational members and partner agencies.
PARTICIPANTS:
ENYA VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMES: E-VIP* is an ecumenical formation programme open to persons (age 17 and up). The programme is open to people from all walks of life and from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and interests. Applications are welcome both from Eastern and Central Europe and beyond. Various programmes are currently being piloted in Eastern and Central Europe. After an evaluation of the current projects, it is hoped that the programme will be able to be co-managed with partners and members in other regions of the world. The programme interfaces and emphases new forms of creative ecumenical interactive participatory ministries in the context of justice, reconciliation, self-sustainability, peace initiatives, transformation, technology sharing, capacity building and human rights. *(VIP - very important persons!!!!)
FUNDING and EXPENSES:
SCHOLARSHIPS: INTERNS/VOLUNTEERS FROM Eastern and Central Europe:
Scholarships are available to cover accommodation and food plus a small amount of pocket money during the internship and there are a limited travel scholarships available. Applicants are also assisting in identifying and applying for funds and resources which may exist in their own countries from Churches, NGO’s/INGO’s, European Community funds and partner/donor agencies. A special effort is currently being made to identify and find funding for interns from economically and historically marginalised/excluded communities.

INTERNS/VOLUNTEERS FROM Asia, Africa, Caribbean, Latin America and the Pacific:
At this point, we are unable to assist with the expenses of those from other countries outside of the region, but can assist in identifying possible scholarship and fund resources and agencies which could contribute to your travel and stay. We hope that this will change in the near future, especially for those from these countries, who have limited financial resources available to them.

INTERNS/VOLUNTEERS FROM Western Europe and North America:
For the foreseeable future, it is expected that participants from these regions will need to cover or fundraise their own expenses and to be self-funding, since at this time ENYA has no general funds to provide travel or living expenses. The funds raised would need to include the expenses like travel to the host country, accommodation and food and internal travel. We do, however, provide the infrastructure for the interns in the form of an orientation, a "home base" or community, office space and supplies, access to a computer, Internet connections, contacts, and supervision/support. There are several possibilities for raising funds and the Secretariat will gladly help qualified applicants in any way possible in seeking to raise funds, identify sources or in preparing fund applications.

On average, one would need to consider their return travel to Eastern and Central Europe and between $US 50.00-80.00 for accommodation and food per week. Internal travel depends on the individual programmes of each internship.
INDIVIDULISATION OF PROGRAMMES:
INDIVIDUALISED PROGRAMMES:
Some of the internships are already designed and ENYA further develops different projects for each intern, according to the intern's area of expertise and interest and the needs of the organisations and projects with whom we work. A special individualised programme is developed for each intern accepted, which could involve work on a project in which ENYA itself is actively involved or placement with a close partner or member of ENYA for example in ecumenical youth ministries with a Church or faith community, or other related organisation, a women's network, a diaconial project, a youth network, a Christian Education network, a children's right's and protection activist group, or with a social movement, justice, peace, reconciliation or environmental group or combination of any of the above. The programmes are designed with the applicants and agreed at least two months before the programme begins.
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:
The length of internship is dependent on many factors including the vision of the applicant, possibilities within a community or diaconial project, the needs of the individual and hosting group, financial resources and infrastructure; but generally varies to one month and one year.
INTERNSHIP VOLUNTEER PLACEMENT PROGRAMMES (E-VIPP):
ENYA also offers a further internship placement service by linking people who are interested in doing volunteer work with those diaconial projects or lay/reconciliation centres seeking and intern. Internships are generally related to one of the following:

diaconial or social injustice issues or concerns;
development of civil and democratic society;
language skills training;
capacity building;
(though manual/construction work internship proposals will also be considered).
APPLICATION FORMS:
If you are interested in pursuing the possibility of an internship with ENYA, we invite you to complete the E-VIP or E-VIPP Application Form. Return the application on the official form along with curriculum vitae, preferably by e-mail or fax, and the originals sent by registered post. Please indicate what ENYA internship you are applying for (E-VIP) or your proposal for a new internship (E-VIPP).
