SUMMER COURSE:

"Called to Compassion, Freedom and Justice - Young Women Shaping the Future of Europe"

Organised by the EFECW, YWCA-CR and ENYA
August 22- September 1, 2002
Celakovice, Czech Republic

INVITATION and INTRODUCTION:
The 6th Assembly of the Ecumenical Forum of European Christian Women (EFECW) Called to Compassion and Freedom - Christian women shaping the future of Europe, will take place from August 25 - September 1, 2002, in Celakovice, Czech Republic. It will bring together over 200 women from over 40 countries.

During the Assembly, the EFECW will also celebrate its 20th anniversary. As part of the commemorations, the first EFECW Young Women’s Leadership Training -Summer Course is being launched. The main aims of the course are to bring forward the unique contribution of ecumenically involved young women, to continue to build ecumenical awareness of women’s issues between generations and to enable more young women to experience the challenges and joys of the European women’s ecumenical movement.

The Assembly will execute the normal business as well, will be a very important process and time for consolidation and reflection, as well as looking towards the future. Out of this, new strategies will be developed which aim to improve the participation of women in Church and Society, ensuring a deeper quality of their lives.

You are invited to apply for one of the 24 places in the Summer Course, which will take place from August 22 - September 1, 2002 and will run conjunction with the Assembly. Applicants will need to be available for the entire duration of the course, be prepared for the challenging work of co-managing the organisation of the Assembly, be open and flexible willing to try new ways and be open to the intensity of living in community with over 200 women. The Summer Course is a dynamic interactive and intensive “hands-on” ecumenical creation/formation experience.
