INVITATION and INTRODUCTION:

The Ecumenical Youth Assembly
ECUMENICAL SPACES - ECUMENICAL VISIONS - CALL TO SOCIAL JUSTICE will take place in Prague, Czech Republic from July 8 - 16, 2004. The application forms in different formats are now avaliable online. The next planning meeting will take place in March. If you would like to add your ideas about the programme please write us!!!

You are invited to join over 100 youth and young adults (Age 17 - 35) in the Ecumenical Youth Assembly, along with other youth, young adults, youth leaders and Bishops from around the world, to explore ways and means of addressing the most pressing concerns facing us today. Programme will include biblical, theological and spiritual reflections, as well as developing new transformation strategies for practical community and Church based action.

The main aims of the Assembly are to bring forward the unique contribution of ecumenically involved young people, to continue to build ecumenical awareness of youth concerns and issues and to enable more young youth and young adults to experience the challenges and joys of the ecumenical movement.

Issues to be addresses are: mission and service, racism and discrimination, violence and economic injustices, unemployment, globalisation, trafficking of children, youth and women, marginalisation, sexual abuse, gender issues, etc, >>>>> The main challenges of being Church and being ecumenical in today's world.

The Assembly will be a very important process and time for consolidation and reflection, as well as looking towards the future. Out of this, new strategies will be developed which aim to improve the participation of youth and young people in Church and Society.

You are invited to apply. Applicants will need to be available for the entire duration of the event, be prepared for the challenging work of co-managing the organisation of the Assembly, be open, flexible and willing to try new ways and be open to the intensity of living in an ecumenical community.

A limited number of scholarships are available (for Eastern and Central European persons only) to assist with the travel costs and participation fee where needed.
